Golf Career Highlights

Fast Facts

Swing Thoughts:

Where I get wobbly is when I'm quick in my transition so I often tell myself to start slow.  And I also tell myself frequently "don't screw this up"

Pre Match Routine:

Music while getting ready - something about the tunes relax my mind and body, arrive 30 mins before tee time, 10 mins at the range, 10 total putts to do a sanity check on the speed, grab a biscuit/coffee, fill the cooler then watch the group(s) in front of mine to see how folks are playing their first ball.

Shot of the Tournament:

Approach shot on 18 the last day, being 1 up w/ Keith on my tail - knew I needed par to survive...dang near missed my tee ball but somehow willed it to the fairway.  Had 104 to back left pin, pulled out the 54 degree, stuck it to 6'.  With the previous groups watching from around the green and the nerves high, that was the shot of the tourney.

How many balls lost in tournament - 3

Down the Stretch thoughts:

I was glad the tournament ended on that hole and there was beer at the clubhouse - I think I had a 4/5 shot lead going into the back 9 on Sunday and while I wasn't playing all that bad, Keith was hot.  I think he birdied 3 or 4 holes on the back and closed the gap quickly.

Winning the Al has given me a boost of confidence that I haven't had since Jr. golf days.  There's always that "beer confidence" when playing w/ friends and winning a 4 some, but to be able to go out and compete against a competitive field is something I haven't done in a decade+.  So watch out!
